INX-ZA

INX-ZA began as an ISPA project in 1996, with the founding of the Johannesburg Internet Exchange (JINX). This Internet exchange has operated continuously since December 1996, and today connects more than 100 networks, and is the oldest, and one of the most important Internet exchanges on the African continent. Additional exchanges in Cape Town (CINX) and Durban (DINX) were established over time, and the “INX-ZA” name is now used to refer to the group of Internet exchanges operated by ISPA. Although the exchange points were established primarily to support ISPA’s members, since 2008 the exchanges have been open to participation from any organisation, who wishes to peer with existing INX-ZA participants.
