SA Internet Under Siege: Online Content Regulation Panel

Session description:

Internet regulation is a delicate balancing act between individual rights against law enforcement requirements. Governments around the world have taken wildly different approaches to regulating online content and controlling access to information. Some recent SA government initiatives have caused significant concerns for the online publishing and Internet sectors, as well civil rights organisations. Is the South African Internet under seige? What action should the Internet community be taking? What protections does the Constitution provide? What are good models to encourage government to adopt? Please join our panel of experts for an interactive discussion of these important issues.
