South African Domain Names: Registrar Opportunities

Session description:

Many ISPs offer .co.za domain registrations, but there are opportunities to provide customers with .web.za, .net.za and .org.za alternatives using the ZACR EPP system. The ZACR also offers domain registrations in its new gTLD cluster for .capetown, .joburg, and .durban. The ZACR’s proxy registrar system will soon enable ISPs to offer dotcity registrations to clients without the hassle of becoming an ICANN accredited registrar. This session will be hosted by the ZACR with particular focus on registrar opportunities for both established ISPs and entrepreneurs interested in offering domain name services to clients. It will also touch briefly on the complaints management policy, process and system that is currently under development to streamline the Registry’s response to domain name related complaints.
