The History of .ZA: A 25 Year Retrospective

Session description:

On the 7th of November 1990, South Africa’s home on the Internet’s domain name system was created. The ZA Central Registry (ZACR), which provides registry services for a number of .ZA SLDs  and gTLDs, recently commissioned the Johannesburg Centre for Software Engineering to document and celebrate the history of .ZA’s Internet Space. In this plenary session, the ZACR hosts a panel of Internet luminaries as they chart the fascinating 25-year history of .ZA and offer some predictions about the future of the country’s domain name space.
