Kiru has 28 years of experience in the ICT sector with five of those as an academic and researcher. He is currently the Chief Director: Cybersecurity Operations in the Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services, South Africa. His role encompasses the operationalising and management of the National Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT). He is also a visiting academic attached to the University of Witwatersrand.
