Lt-Colonel Juliette Whelpton -


Cyber Crime Unit, Crime Intelligence, South African Police Service

Juliette has been a member of the South African Police Service (SAPS) for twenty two (22) years, and has eighteen (18) years experience in Crime Intelligence.

She joined the South African Police Service (SAPS) in 1989. During her career she obtained the National Diploma: Police Administration, a BA degree in Police Science as well as a BA HONS in Psychology. During 1994 she was admitted to the Commissioned Ranks of the SAPS.

Juliette received training by the United States Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of investigation (FBI); Interpol and the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children in Lyon, France; the France “Direction Generale De La police Nationale” and the Canadian police. She is currently writing her dissertation on the topic of Child Pornography.

She is serving as a member of Cyber Intelligence Support, Head office where she is responsible for providing support to specialised units of the SAPS. She coordinates and assists with national and international operations where computers and the Internet play a role.

Juliette provides training of techniques and skills to extract intelligence and information from criminal systems. Training and presentations are provided to members of the SAPS, NPA (Public Prosecutors), Hawks, National Defence Force, SARPCCO (Southern African Regional Police Chief Council Organisation), and to the community (including social workers & schools).
