Archive: Paul King

Paul studied Electrical Engineering at Newcastle-upon-Tyne University in the United Kingdom. After completion of his studies in 1989, Paul joined the international electronics company Plessey as a Project Manager focused on the test and trials of communications systems.

In 1994 he joined Siemens as a Business Development Manager and was instrumental in setting up their outsourcing business, initially focused on delivering support services in the satellite communications, test and trials and radar systems business areas. In 1998, he took on the role of Business Development Director, expanding the capability of the business to cover telecommunications and information technology services.

In 2000, Paul joined Serco – the global outsourcing company as Project Director for the Public Finance Initiative (PFI) programme known as Skynet 5, which was the UK government project to replace the ageing Skynet 4 military satellite communications system through a PFI outsourcing deal. Paul spent 8 years with Serco, working across Europe in a number of roles including Managing Director of the UK communications business, Operations Director of the Continental Europe IT Outsourcing business and Group Director of Space and Telecommunications.

In 2008, Paul relocated to South Africa and then joined Broadband Infraco with the responsibility for Key Accounts. Since joining the company, Paul has been actively involved in preparing Broadband Infraco for formal launch to the market, which has included establishing the Market and Sales and Operations and Maintenance functions within the Business.
