Number Portability in South Africa

Session description:

The Number Portability Company (NPC) was formed in 2005 as a result of a requirement for ICASA to ensure that numbering portability be introduced. NPC administers a Central Reference Database (CRDB) linked to the operators via a sophisticated network interface. It is this database that ensures South African consumers are able to migrate seamlessly between service providers. Clive Fagan has been with NPC since its inception. Join him for a look at the role the company plays, how number portability works and what information is available to WASPs from the CRDB.
