Badian Maasdorp joined Hofmeyr (now Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr) in 1998 and is a Director in the firm’s Finance, Projects and Banking practice.  He became a Director in 2002.  Badian is also an Associate of the South African Institute of Financial Markets.

Experience:

  • Acted as lead attorney and drafted legislation for the corporatisation of the Public Investment Commissioners to establish the Public Investment Corporation Ltd
  • Advised Old Mutual Asset Managers on the disposal and outsourcing of their administration business to JP Morgan
  • Advised Harith Fund Managers and was lead attorney in the establishment of the Pan African Infrastructure Development Fund, an African continental infrastructure fund
  • Regularly acts for several hedge funds and fund managers and advises on structuring and regulatory aspects of the fund management industry
  • Lead attorney and project manager for a privatisation project in the forestry sector
  • Advises regularly on black economic empowerment aspects in various sectors
