Fatima Bhyat is a multi-skilled professional. She is skilled in Information Communication Technologies as well as proficient in Financial Management Systems. Fatima was employed in the investment sector and worked in this area for over 5 years. She then focused and pursued her passion, Information Communication Technologies. More recently Fatima has merged her skills in the Information Technology and Financial Administration.
Fatima worked at SANGONeT (1992-2002), a small non-profit ISP, and arguably one of SA’s first public internet service providers. SANGONeT (previously Worknet) provided e-mail services (BBS/Fidonet) to the NGO sector in the late 80s and later became a full ISP providing email, webhosting, DNS & training services to the NGO sector in South Africa.
Fatima started her career in IT at SANGONeT. She begain in the the admin department and went on to head up the Technical Department of SANGONeT.
Fatima has served on ISPA’s Mancom and was voted to the ZA Registry board. She resigned from these posts in 2002, when she moved to George.
Fatima is currently employed by APC as the Senior Finance Officer. Fatima continues to be involved in APC’s training programs and has been a part of the APC’s Wireless Training, WNSP FTX training, and most recently the APC Secure Online Communications Training projects.
