Luci Abrahams - Director LINK Centre


Luci Abrahams is Director of the LINK Centre, University of the Witwatersrand, a public interest research centre, which focuses on themes of social and economic change in the emerging paradigm of ‘digital knowledge-based economies’. Now in its twentieth year of operation, the Centre’s research landscape includes the thematic areas of: Policy, regulation and governance for the electronic communications sector and African cyberspace; digital transformation and ICT-based innovation in institutions and economic sectors; Internet and society; intellectual property rights, open access approaches and knowledge governance in the Internet age. Luci conducts research and has published on a wide range of topics with respect to the themes listed above. In particular, she has extensive knowledge of global trends in ICT policy, regulation and management; electronic communications law, theory and practice relating to deployment of network infrastructures and e-services; infrastructure and ICT resources including broadband, NGN, NRENs and RRENs, and spectrum management issues; cloud computing; monitoring, evaluation and analysis of e-services and e-government; digital transformation perspectives including smart cities and IoT, IoT regulation and ICT innovation.
