Maggie Verster

Maggie Verster is an is a passionate ICT/new media activist for teaching and learning and believes that educators need to integrate social media and mobile technology tools into their teaching strategies in order to effectively engage a new generation of mobile savvy students. She has delivered numerous papers and keynotes, conducted workshops and developed resources to assist teachers to effectively use ICT and social media for professional development and in their classrooms.

She facilitates various online learning communities for teachers and is one of the top 100 “edu-twits” in South Africa. She has been involved in many diverse ICT training initiatives for subject advisors, teachers and lecturers and consults to the Department of Education, organisations, schools and various Universities. She developed ICT e and m-learning materials for the Commonwealth of Learning and the CSIR and is currently implementing a mobile curriculum for in-service teachers using tablet devices across the country.
